Jill, I was in No. California for the first time and our sisters-in-law took us to see the egrets and herons and even turkey vultures, as well as sea lions and whales, who breached several times. Of course, no one got these types of lovely shots. Thanks for a nice memory! Amy http://sharplittlepencil.com/2012/11/13/rejoice/

I like your treatment of the egret photos. Very artistic.
you got a nice action shot; weather 'happens' :)
Simple but effective, I like the over exposure of these it works very well.
Regarding the bird I was lucky enough to see one in Venezuela earlier this year... performing its intoxicated dance
Prehistoric birds! Have you traveled back in time?
I've only seen the Little Egret. These ones look brilliant. From Findlay
Beautiful! Lovely seeing different species of egrets to what we have in Australia
Nice images under difficult conditions. The light actually added to the feel of the first one.
Very nice captures of a beautiful and elegant bird.
I could watch these guys hunt all day. Nice images.
You caught some good action in the second shot.
I only see egret in the zoo.
My first time to join ABC Wednesday.

Hi there - shots into the light can be a real pain - but this one looks good.
The hoopoe did make my day and I only had to wait a few hours after seeing it for my luggage to catch me up!
Cheers - and thanks for linking to WBW

I think these are magnificent!
No matter....it's still great!!! Love these birds!!! I don't see the reddish very often, but when I do, I'm elated.
